Mr. Caterpoopypants is our pet.{JJ} caught him the other day and I felt bad about releasing him outside since the weather channel was predicting major snow and temperatures in the teens. SO I pick fresh lilac leaves for him twice a day which he loves to eat. One thing I never knew about caterpillars, not that I know a lot about them, is that they poop a lot!

I <3 Autumn!

Autumn is the best time of year in my opinion. My flowers are still alive and doing great, our grass is recovering from the heat and dryness, our garden is actually growing nicely  thanks to the reprieve of hot nights and even hotter days.   It’s a very relaxing peaceful time of the year for me. All the wonderful colors, smells and baked goods! And let’s not forget knitting in the fall, it rocks! When everything else is slowing down, I feel revived during this time of year. Hopeful, serene. I wish it could be this way always!

This one is here to stay!

One thing you might notice about me is my constant need to change things up with my blog. I think I enjoy changing the design of my blog more than the actual act of blogging. I can spend hours creating a new blog look or searching online for the right template for me and I finally found the perfect one!  A knitting template that doesn't scream major old lady! I love it even though it's a little risque. I really do. I love how the retro girl at top is wearing her sweater as it’s being knit. It talks to my evil/good sides. Like my hubby teases me about wearing Mary Jane Doc Martens. Bad girl/good girl dilemma. Sure, I’ll go with that.
Well, I have lots of reading and my first big written assignment for my psych class so I haven’t been on much lately nor will I be over the next week.I will end this post with pictures of a few knitted items I have finished recently. Enjoy your weekend!

Current WIP - Oriel Lace Scarf

Here is a photo of one of my many works in progress. I had originally bought this yarn a few years back and really wanted to knit an intricate lace scarf or even the Clapotis scarf from Knitty.com until I gave up and realized I am not worthy of knitting it, okay so I am worthy, I am just too stupid impatient to figure it out. Anywho. This Oriel Lace scarf will be a gift for Owen's Kindergarten teacher. She has been so helpful this year with him and I wanted to show her my appreciation. I definitely can see her wearing this. For a Kindie teacher she dresses nicely and I always see her with material scarves on, never a knitted one. So I think (hope) she'll like this. Once it's blocked I am sure the pattern will be more obvious, it's really quite pretty. Visit my WIP page to see how much I have on the needles!

Valentines, knitting and baking…

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I did. We had a really nice date night on Friday. Since we only had 3 hours alone time we went to a local restaurant called Union American Bistro in downtown CR and LOVED it.  We had appetizers, a main course and dessert and I can’t say one bad thing about the whole evening. The service was awesome, the food was awesome and of course the company was the best. It brought back so many memories of our first Valentine’s together and how it was before kids. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love being a mom but I also miss the time I had alone with Jas. It’s such a rare thing to be alone with him and when it happens it allows me to remember why I fell in love with him. When we are with the kids, its chaos alot of the time (normal) and our focus is on them.
This weekend I decided to knit a pair of cable footies from “One Skein” by Leigh Radford. Awhile back I bought a hank of Fiesta Boomerang in Stargazer from the Loopy Ewe not realizing that this yarn was not your normal fingering weight. All the yarn I have ever ordered from that site has been so I assumed this would be too.I am not even sure what weight it is but it requires a size 8 needle (worsted?). I ordered this yarn close to two years ago and finally found a pattern to knit with it and it’s coming along beautifully.  In the book she uses a beautiful reddish yarn and the yarn I used is variegated so the cables aren’t as obvious BUT the yarn is to die for soft! I can’t wait to put these on my feet!

I also did some baking this weekend. I found this recipe on Carol’s blog and had to try it and while it turned out good I was a bit disappointed it wasn’t as chocolaty as I had hoped. Carol added chocolate chips which I didn’t have so I am sure that’s the only difference. Oh, and I didn’t have ice cream. Next time I will make sure to have both because I am positive that is what is missing! The recipe comes from Kara's Kitchen Creations.
Here’s the mixture with the brown sugar/cocoa mix

Here I am adding the water to the top. At this point I was skeptical it would make anything solid, but it does!

What a beautiful day!

For a Monday, geez I just realized it’s actually Tuesday! The kids didn’t have school yesterday so it seems like a Monday to me! :) So anyhow, things have gone pretty well this morning. H was already up and dressed when I got up, J got up immediately and O only slightly gave me a fuss about getting up. He’s my slug child in the mornings, very dramatic about how tired he is and it’s literally like dressing a slug (not that I have dressed a slug, but you get the point), he makes it almost impossible to dress him.
Had a good weekend, the niece spent Saturday and Sunday here so the boys had a nice time seeing their cousin.
I start school today. I wish I could say I am excited about today’s class (Astronomy) but I am not. I am also taking Biology and Philosophy which I am not excited about but can handle.  I am getting antsy to start the nursing program already! One more year. Seems far away but I’ll tell you this last year since starting school has flown by! Thank God!
Anyhow, I have also been busy with my knitting. Or at least trying to get some of my WIP done so I can dive into some of my new sock yarn stash.
Here’s a few new photos of some yummy new yarn I purchased through http://www.knitpicks.com/  They have a new line of sock yarn that is hand painted and the colors are just beautiful AND affordable! $9.99 a hank and it’s enough for one pair of socks! Woohoo.  I also snuck in a few photos of my baby Jack (he’s 4 but he’s still my baby! )
