Work in Progress

Lola Best Friend Diamond Socks – Pattern from Knitting a Pattern a day calendar. Either I read the pattern wrong or the pattern is wrong because I am on the second repeat of the rounds and I am not seeing “Diamonds” instead I am seeing “W’s”. Rounds 1 through 14 of the pattern calls for K1, p13, K1 and increasing until you reach round 14 which is K7, p1, K7. So when you knit this up per the instructions you start from the middle widest point of the diamond instead of at the top. Right? The instructions next have you starting round 15 with p1, k13, p1 and the last round which is 28 ends with p7, k1, p7. So you knit from the smallest tip of the diamond to the widest part which is again the middle. Am I making sense to anyone? I guess the way I am looking at this pattern is that if you want to make a Diamond you would start with the least number of stitches then increase with each round until you are at the middle. Instead of starting with the lowest number of stitches like the pattern has, you would start with the exact number of stitches that you ended with and decrease from there. Right? I am now too far into this first sock to want to stop but if I have the time to knit it up the way I think is correct, I am going to. This whole thing has driven me nuts! I think in my 5 years of knitting this has been my first real weird pattern. I’ve had a few but in the end it turned out to be the knitter who was wonky, not the pattern. Any suggestions or if you tried this pattern let me know!
